Merlot leads Jonata Fenix 2019, accounting for 51% of the blend alongside 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. This estate-grown Ballard Canyon red offers a Merlot-led alternative to the Cabernet Franc focus of El Alma.
Awarding it 94 points, Jeb Dunnuck describes “Lots of mulberries, redcurrants, black cherries, tobacco, leafy herbs, and tapenade”. He calls it a “fleshy, full-bodied, textured beauty”, with ripe, integrated tannins and a firm thread of freshness supporting the generous fruit.
