Just 720 cases of Jonata El Desafio de Jonata 2021 were produced. This Cabernet Sauvignon-led red blend contains 2% each of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, and spent 20 months in French oak, 80% new.
Scoring it 97+ points, Jeb Dunnuck highlights “blackcurrants, leafy tobacco, sappy flowers, incense, and gravelly earth.” He describes “incredible purity, medium to full body, ripe yet substantial tannins, and a great core of beautiful fruit”. Concentration and structure define this release, while the winemaker also emphasises its freshness and lift.
